About Gokmen Seker โ Hairdresser & Partner at ROJ BARBERSHOP
Gokmen Seker was born in Turkey and is proud of his Kurdish heritage. His journey as a barber began at a young age, learning the craft from his uncle. What started as a hobby soon became a way to give back, as Gokmen offered haircuts as charity to those in need in his village. Each haircut fueled his passion and excitement for the art of barbering, and his uncle once told him he would earn loyal clients for life.
Driven by this encouragement and a desire to perfect his skills, Gokmen continued his barbering journey across Turkey, the Czech Republic, Germany, and now, Ontario, Canada. Working in diverse places with people from all walks of life has enriched his technique and deepened his commitment to his clients.
Alongside his barbering career, Gokmen chose to broaden his horizons by learning English and pursuing a law degree abroad. In 2020, he moved to Ukraine to study law, where he also met his future wife. When war broke out, they relocated to Canada in 2023, bringing with them a wealth of experience and a spirit of resilience.
Gokmen is also the author of Lelechka and Collared Dove, where he shares the powerful story of his and his wifeโs journey since the war began. Through his writing, he offers a personal glimpse into their experiences, strength, and hope during turbulent times.
Outside of work, Gokmen enjoys charity work, learning to play the violin, and writing stories. These passions allow him to connect with his community, express his creativity, and continue learning every day.
Today, as a partner at ROJ BARBERSHOP, Gokmen combines his international expertise, passion for barbering, and dedication to exceptional service. For Gokmen, this partnership is about more than just business. Itโs about building trust, with his partner ,colleagues and every client who sits in his chair.
